The majority of the animals that we receive at the Humane Society come in as strays or as a result of phone calls that we receive from the public. Whenever we receive reports of cruelty to animals, our agents begin investigations of the incident or situation in question. Some investigations are brief: such as a quick visit to someone's house to ensure that an animal is being taken proper care of. Other investigations are more lengthy and require the involvement of police officers and court officials.
Please keep in mind that if you are calling us with a cruelty complaint, we will generally ask for a name and phone number where you can be reached with further questions should they arise.
All of the information that we receive becomes property of the Humane Society and is strictly confidential.
