The North Bay and District Humane Society is constantly working on building connections within the community. We're strengthening our ties with local organizations such as Cogeco, St. John Ambulance and Nipissing University in an effort to raise awareness about animal welfare issues, to increase community involvement and successful animal adoptions, and to heighten respect towards all animals.
Cogeco is a great aid to our organisation. Their dedication enables us to broadcast information about our animals and events. Cogeco provides an excellent way to voice what the humane society is currently involved in, as well as reach those potential families that might not be able to make it in to regularly visit our animals.
Currently, our connection to St. John Ambulance is through their therapy dog program. We plan to continue to build this partnership in order to work together successfully in the future. As a team, we can raise awareness and attend to community events that will strengthen each of our organisations as well as our bond.
Students of Nipissing University's Founder's House are also spreading the word and making connections with the shelter. We look forward to participation at events and fundraisers, as well as volunteers helping out around the facility.
The North Bay - Mattawa Conservation Authory does a wonderful job organising and advertising the annual Waggin' Tails hike. We are grateful that they remember our shelter and are willing to complete all of the work involved in making this event run smoothly.
