The North Bay and District Humane Society is pleased to announce that we will be holding our
16th annual Paws-A-Thon in the early fall.  We look forward to the walk every year, as it is an opportunity to spend time with the public and their dogs as well as introduce shelter dogs to potential homes. 

The Humane Society is also expecting support from a variety of specially trained dogs and handlers: such as St. John Ambulance therapy dog teams, MNR and OPP tracking dog teams, and agility trained dogs!!  Visit us at Lee Park to learn more about the training and requirements of these dogs and their community service handlers.

Additionally, we will be hosting several contest events that will provide the chance for you to win fun prizes!! Plus, participants who raise $100 or more will be automatically entered into a draw to win $1000 cash, donated by Remax!!  Also, our participant who brings in the most pledges will win a Napoleon Ultra Chef Grill donated by Max Propane!! (He/she cannot win both.)  It will be a day of fun, excitement, and gratitude to those involved.

Pledge forms are now available and can be picked up at the Humane Society shelter on Main Street West;  at Remax on Lakeshore Drive;  at the customer service desk of Ontera on Regina Street;  and are downloadable from the link above.

Mark the date on your calendars, and come back frequently for more details!!  We will be posting further information as we continue to organize the walk for 2010.

*** Staff and volunteers at the humane society are now putting a call out to all local pet supply stores and other animal-related businesses.  We are anticipating such individuals to be available for the public to purchase both dog and cat related items during the event.  If you are interested in having your business represented at this event, please contact the humane society at
